Smelling flowers and touching plants by blind children |
April 19, 2007,it¡¯s a good day in spring. About 50 blind chi- ldren from school for the blind and the mute of Xi¡¯an have a spe- cial popular science tour under the leadership of the staff, these imaginative blind children use their hands to touch the shape of flowers, use their nose to snuff the fragrance from flowers, use their heart to feel the plants world, and have a god-given chance to get in touch with nature.
In the medical plants garden, they smell the odor of banlang- en, Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort and the special odor of Japanese antifeverile dechroa root. What¡¯s more, they use their hands tou- ch Kalopanax which is full of prickle and something else.
When children arrive at all flowers garden, the odor of peony come to them, they smile happily one by one and say: ¡°Te flower of peony is big and fragrant with a lot of petals.¡±
In front of tulip, one student describe its shape like this the shape of tulip is like a big wineglass, It seem like soldier in the line if they boom in the groud.
Although these children can¡¯t see the beautiful flowers, they can hear, smell and touch them. In this special day, these 50 bli- nd children use ear,nose,hands and their heart visit the colourfu- ll Xi¡¯an botanical garden. |
